Committee Leadership
Melanie Chow '22SGA Director of Relationship & Sexual Respect
After seeing friends go through trauma after sexual assault as well as seeing so much frustration with the hookup and relationship culture on campus last year, I knew I wanted to join the SGA SRR Committee to make a change on campus. These topics are so elusive and rarely spoken about on campus, and as director of SRR next year, I hope to host events and create conversations and make these topics more accessible to the student body.

I want Middlebury to be a place where all students feel safe and respected, no matter their identities. I am passionate about working towards increasing campus wide education surrounding consent, sexual education, and sexual assault support, while reducing the stigma surrounding these areas. As a MiddSafe advocate, I hope to take what I learn from my role and spread positive change amongst our student body. I look forward to working on the SGA in hopes of improving Middlebury’s sexual and relationship respect awareness.
