SUPPORTING CURIOSITY FOR SNOW SPORTS
Skiing and snowboarding are considered integral components of the history and culture of Middlebury College, and the Snow Bowl Ski School, owned and operated by the College, provides a safe and practical way for Middlebury students to share in the experience of skiing and snowboarding. Unfortunately, such sports require expensive gear and costly instruction in order to participate.
In November of 2018, the SGA Senate allocated $2,500.00 to the Seizing Opportunities Fund under the direction of Chief Diversity Officer Miguel Fernández. These funds were utilized for the purpose of subsidizing the cost of ski and snowboard lessons at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl Ski School over Winter Term, including lessons that count toward a P.E. credit, to students receiving financial aid.
Due to sustained student interest and the overall success of the SGA pilot program, the Vice President's Office of Student Affairs now financially supports this program for students in future years to take ski and snowboard lessons.
